SubscribeMessiah is Father
[DEUT 32:6; IS 9:6; 63:16; 64:8]
Calling G-d Father in Tenach was somewhat rare among Jewish people. In fact, it occurs only about 15x’s, mostly by a few prophets in their writings. Isaiah 4x’s [9:6; 63:16 twice; 64:8]; Jeremiah 3x’s [3:4,19; 31:9] and Malachi 2x’s [1:6; 2:10]
The first time was by Moses in DEUT 32:6. His lengthy song [chapter 32] includes both worship and serious exhortation. Before calling G-d Israel’s Father, he describes their perfect Father to them:
- First, he proclaims the name of the L-rd in worship.
- Second, he commands them to respond– declare the greatness of our G-d.
- Third, he reminds them that He is the Rock– His work is perfect, and all His ways are just… a faithful G-d, without bias; He is righteous and true.
- Fourth, a sound rebuke of their sins toward Him– Is this how you repay the L-rd? Isn’t He your Father and Creator [Elohim]?
- Fifth, Moses lifts the L-rd up as the Most High [El Elyon], before 42 verses of you ignored the Rock and you forgot the G-d who gave birth to you.
He invites you to call Him everlasting Father. If He’s not yours already, you can come to Him by faith. Repent of your sins [breaking His law], and trust His Messiah [IS 9:6]. His everlasting righteousness will then be applied to your account. Instantly, you will have an everlasting Father and everlasting life!
